Drained of colour.

Saddled with the weight.

It came to me untitled; I call it 'Pallor'.

This Central African-style mask is carved with a kaolin-white face, a sharp black triangular nose ridge, and a band of blue pigment across the lower face and jaw.

The mouth has a grille of close-set teeth, which is more grimace than a smile. The rim is wrapped in rattan or cane, worn with age.

The surface carries the kind of interior patina — bloom, tool marks, wear at the lashing points — that speaks to genuine use rather than recent manufacture.

This mask's specific tribal or regional origin has not been confirmed, and it is offered as a striking, well-worn example of the wider Central African masking tradition rather than as a documented piece from a named group. If you value objects with presence over objects with paperwork, this one watches back.

Dimensions: 32cm tall x 21cm wide x 15cm deep (back of mask to the tip of the nose).

In good condition overall, with some surface wear in line with its age.
